Born and raised in New York City allowed a unique and competitive upbringing that quickly teaches you to excel to stand out in the crowd.

Growing up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I developed an early and insatiable hunger for knowledge. I was the kind of kid often seen walking with a stack of books, eager to learn anything that captured my curiosity. That same enthusiasm for discovery still drives me today.

So, who am I now? I’m an artist and designer who sees the world through a creative lens—constantly observing shapes, forms, and the interplay of light and shadow. This passion for visual storytelling naturally led me to explore photography and digital video, which remain two of my favorite pastimes. Over time, my interest in imaging expanded to include aerial drones. I’m an avid drone enthusiast and enjoy building my own—programming the flight controllers, motors, and electronics myself.

But beyond art and technology, I’m a family man. I’m deeply grateful for my wife and our two children. I’m also a person of faith and try to live by the principles that honor God.

If I had to describe myself in a single word, it would be focused. When I commit to something, I give it my all and aim to do it with excellence. That’s who I am—Steve Nunez.

Art & Design

Art and design weren’t my first passions. My early interests leaned heavily toward the sciences—particularly nature and physics. I was a strong student and earned a place at Brooklyn Technical High School, one of New York City’s elite specialized high schools. It was during my time at Brooklyn Tech that I unexpectedly discovered the world of art. That discovery shifted my path away from traditional sciences and toward creative expression.

I later attended Mercy College, where I continued developing my skills—especially in the art of airbrushing. That medium became a lifelong pursuit. Over the years, my work has been featured in magazines, galleries, and art shows, where I’ve received various awards. Painting remains a central part of my creative life.

Yet, my technical side never left. In recent years, I’ve become increasingly drawn to design—specifically UX/UI design. I'm fascinated by the way thoughtful user experience and solid design principles shape digital products. The intersection of technology and creativity is where I feel most at home.

My dual passions for art and science naturally led me to build a digital presence, including a personal website and YouTube channel. Through these platforms, I’ve been fortunate to share my work with a global audience—reaching over 2.9 million viewers and growing a community of more than 11,000 subscribers.

As mentioned earlier, I also have a deep love for photography and video. Whether I’m out in a field chasing light or capturing the delicate details of insects and wildlife, I’m always looking to tell stories through the lens.

UAS - Multirotors - drones

My interest in photography/video progressed into an interest of Unmanned Aerial Systems, Drones and Multi-rotors. They have progressed into very capable aerial imaging platforms and can capture stunning 4K video and stills. As an avid radio-control enthusiast and amatuer photographer/videographer my interest into these "flying cameras" was a natural addition to my current stills camera setups.

I build, program and modify the electronics and multi-rotor frames to suit the parameters I'm looking to exploit. Electronic speed controllers can be dampened to various settings to match aggressive flight characteristics or smooth flying for cinematic results. Glonas and American GPS systems can be utilized to enhance flight controller craft-positioning and can be bypassed for aggressive 3D flying. Ceramic GPS units can be purchased and modified to enable more stable hold-positions and hover. I've currently built tri-rotors, quadcopters and hexacopters and am currently setting up a 12 motor hexacopter for heavy-lift and long duration flight capabilities.

Electronic modifications

The transmitters used to control drones can be altered to increase range and suit tactile feedback. In the above photos you can see a Spectrum DX9 transmitter about to be modified to use a long-range MHZ system.

The photo above right shows the tail section of a tri-rotor setup with a refreshed firmware ESC to smooth flight characteristics.

Beside custom built multi rotors, I also own several commercially available drones such as DJI Spark, Blade Chroma, Yuneec Breeze and DJI Mavic Pro and Autel EVO.

Note: I captured aerial video with my custom hexacopter for the Vanilla Ice Project's season 2 episode and the footage was aired.

(All photos are of my personal multi-rotor projects and owned by myself.)

Motorcycling

I'm a long-time motorcyclist and thoroughly enjoy riding Italian sport bikes through twisty roads.
My current motorcycle is the MV Agusta F3 800RC Superbike.
