Born and raised in New York City allowed a unique and competitive upbringing that quickly teaches you to excel to stand out in the crowd.

As a youngster living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY I quickly realized I had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and strived to learn everything of interest to me with focused enthusiasm...it was not uncommon to find me walking with a stack of books- I just wanted to learn all I could- it still carries on today!

So who am I today? I am an artist and designer and view all things through the eyes of an artist observing shapes and forms and shadow/light play. The interest in art and how light wraps around forms led to an interest in digital video/photography of which remain my greatest hobbies. I've elevated my interest in imaging to include aerial drones of which I'm an avid enthusiast. I build my own drones and program the electronics, flight controllers and motors.

A description of me would be incomplete without mentioning my family which consist of my wife and 2 children. I am also a person of faith and try to keep the principles of God.

Lastly, in describing who I am, I'd have to mention I'm a focused person in that I dive into whatever I'm doing and strive to do it with excellence. this is who Steve Nunez is.

Art & Design

I didn't initially start out with interests in art and design. My initial interest was in the sciences, especially in the fields of nature and physics. As a student I excelled in my studies and was accepted into Brooklyn Tech, H.S. one of the three specialized high schools in New York City. While attending B'klyn Tech H.S. I discovered the world of art and deviated from traditional sciences and pursued the arts. I later attended Mercy College and continued learning the art technique of airbrushing and have never turned away from it. My artwork has been featured in several magazines, galleries and I've won various art shows and continue to paint today. While I do continue my pursuits in the art realm my 'technical' side has emerged and I find myself drawn to 'design' and especially UX/UI design. I'm drawn to the technological side of app design and the UX principles that form the basis of successful design- it's an integral part of my attraction to digital design.

Due to my interests in both the arts and sciences it was intuitive to combine both and produce an online presence via personal website and YouTube where I've showcased my art to a worldwide audience of more than 2.7 million viewers and over 8,200 continual subscribers.

As previously written about I also have a deep affinity for video/photography- it's not uncommon to find me in a field with a camera in hand looking for insects or wildlife to photograph. Please feel free to check the linked interests below.

UAS - Multirotors - drones

My interest in photography/video progressed into an interest of Unmanned Aerial Systems, Drones and Multi-rotors. They have progressed into very capable aerial imaging platforms and can capture stunning 4K video and stills. As an avid radio-control enthusiast and amatuer photographer/videographer my interest into these "flying cameras" was a natural addition to my current stills camera setups.

I build, program and modify the electronics and multi-rotor frames to suit the parameters I'm looking to exploit. Electronic speed controllers can be dampened to various settings to match aggressive flight characteristics or smooth flying for cinematic results. Glonas and American GPS systems can be utilized to enhance flight controller craft-positioning and can be bypassed for aggressive 3D flying. Ceramic GPS units can be purchased and modified to enable more stable hold-positions and hover. I've currently built tri-rotors, quadcopters and hexacopters and am currently setting up a 12 motor hexacopter for heavy-lift and long duration flight capabilities.

Electronic modifications

The transmitters used to control drones can be altered to increase range and suit tactile feedback. In the above photos you can see a Spectrum DX9 transmitter about to be modified to use a long-range MHZ system.

The photo above right shows the tail section of a tri-rotor setup with a refreshed firmware ESC to smooth flight characteristics.

Beside custom built multi rotors, I also own several commercially available drones such as DJI Spark, Blade Chroma, Yuneec Breeze and DJI Mavic Pro and Autel EVO.

Note: I captured aerial video with my custom hexacopter for the Vanilla Ice Project's season 2 episode and the footage was aired.

(All photos are of my personal multi-rotor projects and owned by myself.)

Motorcycling

I'm a long-time motorcyclist and thoroughly enjoy riding Italian sport bikes through twisty roads.
My current motorcycle is the MV Agusta F3 800RC Superbike.
